🎉 Host a Christmas Ornament-Making Party!
When my kids were little, we used to host mini ornament-making parties every November. They’d invite a few friends over, and I’d spread out all the craft supplies on our big table — then let them go wild creating their own masterpieces.
It was messy, sparkly, and so much fun. ✨ The kids loved showing off their ornaments at the end, and it became one of our favorite holiday traditions.
If you want to start this tradition with your family, I made a free printable Ornament-Making Party Checklist to help you get started!

Here’s what to include on your supply table:
- 🎨 Cricut pre-made decals (names, snowflakes, festive words)
- 🏷️ Dollar Tree stickers & embellishments
- ✂️ Paint, glitter, and glue
- 🎀 Pom poms, ribbon, and twine
- 📜 Cardstock & scrapbook paper
- 🪄 Clear ball ornaments
- 🪵 Wood blank ornaments
Set everything out, turn on Christmas music, and let the creativity flow — it’s such a simple way to make lasting memories and handmade keepsakes. ❤️ Add a hot cocoa station for kids to really get into the Christmas spirit during the party!

Simple, nostalgic, and so fun to make — this popsicle stick tree ornament is a timeless favorite for both kids and adults. Use Dollar Tree craft sticks, a bit of paint or glitter, printed cardstock, and mini pom-poms or rhinestones for “ornaments.” Add a jute string hanger, and you’ve got a rustic little tree that looks adorable on any Christmas display.
👉 Tip: For a modern twist, paint the sticks white and add a plaid bow or wood bead garland!
16. Laser-Cut Wooden Ornament with xTool 🪵
If you’ve got a laser cutting machine like the xTool, this project is an absolute must-try! 🔥
For this design, I used my xTool to cut intricate winter scenes and layered wood shapes, then finished them with white paint and a hint of gold wax for that cozy, Scandinavian Christmas look.
These laser-cut ornaments make stunning personalized gifts — just add names or festive phrases using your favorite font, and tie with a velvet ribbon. 🎁
👉 Tip: Try engraving your family name or the year for a keepsake you’ll treasure every season.
17. Personalized Wood Bead Ornaments (Cricut + Dollar Tree Project) 🪶
Wood bead ornaments are a timeless favorite — simple, neutral, and endlessly customizable. For this DIY, I used Dollar Tree wood beads (or grab a bulk pack from Amazon), some jute twine, and my Cricut to personalize each ornament with names or festive words like joy, peace, or merry.
They’re perfect for a minimalist or farmhouse-style Christmas tree, or as thoughtful, budget-friendly gifts. You can also string several together to create personalized mini garlands for stockings or tiered trays.
👉 Tip: Mix natural wood beads with white and gold painted ones for a cozy, Scandinavian look that fits any Christmas color palette.
18. Fake Cupcake Christmas Ornaments 🧁
Who doesn’t love a sweet touch on the tree? These fake cupcake ornaments look deliciously real — but they’re made entirely from lightweight materials like spackle, paint, and glitter. 🍭
Start with a Cricut cut cupcake liner (Dollar Tree has options too!), add a foam ball, then swirl on “frosting” using lightweight spackle. Sprinkle on faux sprinkles or glitter and top with a cherry or candy embellishment.
These look adorable on dessert-themed trees, kitchen trees, or tiered trays — and they’re one of those crafts that make everyone ask, “Wait, are those real cupcakes?!” 😅
👉 Tip: Add a small loop of ribbon or baker’s twine before the frosting dries to hang them easily on your tree.
