How Simple Made Pretty Started…
My story might sound familiar to you.
In 2010, I returned to work after being a stay-at-home mom to my then 1-year-old daughter. My husband was still building his real estate business, and we needed the additional income. Plus, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, I felt like I was letting my education go to waste.
However, I disliked the type of work I was doing.
Despite the excellent pay, I often found myself staring blankly at my computer screen or phone, browsing Pinterest for my next weekend craft or home DIY project—my true passions.
Pinterest provided me with countless crafty ideas, which inspired me to organize a massive Princess Party (you might even call it a “Pinterest party,” lol) for my daughter’s 3rd birthday.
And that’s when I bought my first Cricut machine.
(I seriously attribute all my success to Cricut in every single story; I love all their products!)
I made fancy invitations and all of the decorations for my daughter’s 3rd birthday, princess party. Heck, we even had a professional Disney princess at the party! And although it looked like we spent hundreds of dollars on this “Pinterest Princess Party,” we really only spent $50 since everything was DIY.
All my friends were amazed and said I should start a blog or an Etsy shop. They just couldn’t believe I wasn’t sharing my talent with others. I was flattered but brushed it off until a year later when I finally opened an Etsy shop (which you can read about in this post).
At that time I was following a few craft and home décor bloggers that I admired. I was obsessed with Dear Lillie’s home décor and wanted a home just like her’s. I loved Lia Griffith and her paper craft tutorials. So, when I stumbled upon the popular Liz Marie blog and her “how to start a blog” tutorial, I followed her steps and launched my blog right away.
At first, I wasn’t sure exactly what to blog about, but I knew I wanted to help others.
Fast-forward several years after starting Simple Made Pretty and here’s what I know now:
- I’m here to inspire you by sharing craft projects and DIY ideas for your home
- I’ll share my knowledge and experience managing my home and family life so you can better manage yours
- I’m here to help you create a “Pinterest Party” on a Dollar Store budget just like I did!
- And I’ll help you accomplish all of the above no matter where you are in the world
So, I started making printables and digital products so you can recreate all the things I create (and do) to make your life a little bit easier from anywhere in the world.
There are over 100+ FREE printables available in my private digital library and 500+ digital products available for Craft & Create Club Members that can help you with DIY, Crafts, Home Décor, Home Organization, Home Management, Meal Planning, Essential Oils, & Blogging.
Soooo…if all that sounds like you, then you are in the right place and I’m so happy to have you!
My vision is to become the top online resource for those looking to discover creative DIY ideas and home management solutions.
I just want to say thanks in advance for helping me achieve this vision 🙂
