Valentine’s Day Dollar Tree DIY Decor (Easy, Budget-Friendly Ideas That Look High-End)

Valentine’s Day has a way of sneaking up on us — and suddenly you want your home to feel festive, cozy, and put-together without buying new décor or overspending.

If that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.

In this post, I’m sharing my favorite Valentine’s Day Dollar Tree DIY décor ideas that are:

  • Budget-friendly (most cost $5 or less)
  • Easy enough for busy moms
  • Cricut-friendly (but adaptable if you don’t have one)
  • Reusable year after year

These are the kinds of projects that look boutique on shelves, mantels, and coffee stations — but start with simple Dollar Tree finds.

In case you are in a hurry…

✅ These are Valentine’s Day decor & craft supplies used in these tutorials. If you can’t find them in stores, you can order online!

Why Dollar Tree Valentine Decor Works So Well

Dollar Tree seasonal décor is one of my favorite starting points because:

  • The base items are inexpensive
  • You can customize them with paint, vinyl, or paper
  • They store easily after Valentine’s Day
  • They mix well with neutral home décor

Instead of buying new decorations every year, I focus on simple upgrades that work with what I already own.

Easy Valentine’s Day Dollar Tree DIY Decor Ideas

These are inspiration-style projects. You don’t need to make every single one — pick one idea that feels doable and start there.

In this post, you will find tutorials to make a DIY Dollar Tree Marquee Light using the popular Dollar Tree Love Sign. You will see how to use $1 Tea Towels to make removable pillow covers and you will learn how to DIY Rae Dunn Valentine’s Heart Signs. I’m also including how to use my Printable Farmhouse Stamped Book Covers in your Valentine’s Day decor, how to make some Valentine Gnomes, and how to make Dollar Store Valentine’s Day Farmhouse Signs.

1. DIY Dollar Tree LOVE Sign Marquee Light

Dollar Tree Love Sign DIY

Here’s a fun Dollar Tree DIY using the popular chipboard LOVE sign ❤ I’ve seen many bloggers, YouTubers, and Instagram creators using this Dollar Tree Love Sign and the minute I saw it, I knew I wanted to make a marquee light!

Find the full detailed tutorial for all of my recent Valentine’s DIY videos on my YouTube channel below!

Supplies:

  • Dollar Tree Love sign
  • Christmas lights
  • Drill (I use this one and love it!)
  • Countersink drill bit
  • Martha Stewart multipurpose paint in Habenero
  • Staple Gun (I have this Staple Gun)

2. $1 Tea Towel Pillow Covers (Removeable)

Target Dollar Section DIY

Y’all asked to see the DIY for the removable @target $1 Tea Towel Pillow Covers and I know I’m not the first person to turn a tea towel into a pillow cover…however, I shared a hack last Fall to keep one side open and attach ribbon to tie the ends closed so you can remove and wash your covers and I’ve never seen that done before.

Dollar Tree Valentine's Decor DIY

I used a sewing machine but I’ve made these with a glue gun before too.

Find the full detailed tutorial for all of my recent Valentine’s DIY videos on my YouTube channel below!

Supplies:

  • Sewing Machine/Needle & Thread/Glue Gun (I use this glue gun and love it)
  • 2 tea towels from Target One Spot
  • Ribbon from Dollar Tree
  • 16 x 16 pillow insert from Ikea

Directions:

–>>See the Detailed YouTube Video at the end of this post or this Quick Video for the tutorial

TOTAL COST: $2 per cover!

3. Sequin Heart Valentine Pillow Cover

This sequin heart pillow cover is so easy to DIY with only 2 items! If you have an existing pillow cover, simply attach the heart sequin from Dollar Tree to the pillow cover.

4. Painted Dollar Tree Wooden Hearts

Why this works: Wooden hearts are lightweight, easy to paint, and perfect for shelves or walls.

Paint Dollar Tree wooden hearts in red, pink, or white and add vinyl phrases like XOXO, Love, or Be Mine. These work beautifully as hanging décor, tiered tray accents, or grouped wall displays.

Rae Dunn Valentine's Day Signs

These heart signs are Rae Dunn inspired… I’ve seen RD Valentine’s signs and plates all over IG and these wooden signs from @dollartree are perfect to make a knockoff version! These Rae Dunn Valentine Signs look so cute on my Dollar Tree DIY Mug Racks!

Rae Dunn DIY Signs

I used my Cricut machine to make decals (I did not show the process bc my last video shared how to make a decal using Cricut)

I added these decals to my shop if you don’t have a Cricut machine.

Supplies:

  • Dollar Tree Wooden Hearts
  • Multipurpose paint in habanero
  • Multipurpose paint in wedding cake
  • Mod podge with gloss (for glossy look)
  • Metal wire
  • Decals (get them here or make your own)
  • Cricut Machine (if making your own decals)
  • The Skinny Font or Cami Rae Font (I used The Skinny but some prefer the look of Cami Rae)

P.S. You can use both front and back to double your sign 🙂

5. Foam Board and Paint Stick Valentine Wall Art

Why this works: Foam board is lightweight and inexpensive.

Layer Dollar Tree foam board with paint sticks to create framed Valentine art. Add vinyl lettering for a polished finish that looks store-bought.

You can find the full tutorial for the signs in this post and see all Valentine’s Signs I made using this method below 🙂

I’ve been using this method to make farmhouse signs to save money over the years and even make some of my signs double-sided to save space in our home!

6. Valentine’s Printable Farmhouse Stamped Book Covers

7. Valentine’s Gnomes

One of my most popular DIYs from 2019 was these Dollar Tree Sock Gnomes. I continued making gnomes and then taught y’all how to add arms and legs to your gnomes. Then I had everyone asking me to add my handmade gnomes to my shop (which you can purchase my gnomes here!).

Valentine's Day Gnomes

I made a select number of Valentine’s Gnomes using Dollar Store supplies and they turned out super cute with the rest of the Dollar Tree DIY Valentine’s Day Decor!

8. Dollar Tree Valentine’s Day Wreaths

I made 2 different wreaths using Dollar Tree Supplies. One wreath used a wire heart wreath form and the other used grapevine wreaths.

Dollar Tree DIY Valentine's Day Wreaths

The gnome heart wreath was made with burlap ribbon wrapped around a Dollar Tree wreath form. I added a Gnome ornament from Christmas, some ribbon, and a galvanized word from Dollar Tree. Glue everything together with a hot glue gun.

9. Valentine Mantel Decor Using Dollar Tree Finds

Why this works: You can refresh one area without decorating the entire house.

Style your mantel using Dollar Tree pink décor, simple heart signs, candles, and garlands. Layering a few pieces together makes the space feel intentional without clutter.

10. Felt Valentine Decor (Banners, Flags & Gifts)

Why this works: Felt is forgiving and beginner-friendly.

Create felt flags, banners, or gift toppers using Dollar Tree felt sheets. These are perfect for Valentine’s Day decorating and handmade gifts.

Styling Tips to Make Dollar Tree Decor Look High-End

  • Stick to a limited color palette (red, pink, white, neutral)
  • Repeat shapes and words for cohesion
  • Group items in odd numbers
  • Add texture with beads, wood, or felt

Small styling choices make a big difference.
