I recently polled my Instagram followers and asked if they would like to learn how to make fabric pumpkins and I was shocked to see that 97% did not know how! So I decided to come up with as many ways as I possibly could make fabric pumpkins.
I love using Dollar Tree supplies to DIY and decorate my home. The Dollar Tree is the only store where you don’t have to check the price tag when you like something! I’ve found that is not the case when shopping at Home Goods, Target, and other home decor stores. Many of the below DIY projects were inspired by items I saw at other stores. One question I’m frequently asked is how I come up with my DIY ideas. Well, shopping at expensive stores and realizing I can make it for much less is one way!
How To Make Fabric Pumpkins (4 Different Ways)
Today we are making Fabric Pumpkins using Dollar Tree supplies. Everything in the videos can be created in under 15 minutes and most supplies can be found at Dollar Tree! Some of the fabric pumpkins are no-sew and some require a needle and thread, so if you know how to hand-sew, you can make these fabric pumpkins!
In this post you will learn how to make:
- Toilet Paper Fabric Pumpkin (no-sew)
- DIY Fabric Pumpkin Using Cinnamon Sticks and Beans (hand sew)
- How To Make a Fabric Pumpkin Using an Old Sock, Wine Cork, & Dental Floss (hand sew)
- Make a Huge Fabric Pumpkin Using Old Rags & An Old Sock (no-sew)

Supplies:
- Toilet Paper Roll
- Fabric (I used a Dollar Tree baby Blanket)
- Small Sticks (I found mine in our yard)
Directions:
- Gather Supplies. Please watch the video below with more instructions and pictures!
- Spread the fabric out right-side down and place the roll of toilet paper in the center.
- Take each corner of the fabric and start pushing it into the center of the roll.
- Continue until all fabric is wrapped around the toilet paper.

2. DIY Fabric Pumpkin Using Cinnamon Sticks and Beans (hand sew)
Who doesn’t love the smell of cinnamon during Fall? ???? Combined with some other fragrant items (I used dried lavender buds in mine) or chamomile, these DIY fabric pumpkins will make your smell amazing too! Use beans, rice or dried cherry pits with some pillow stuffing for the insert. Keep in mind since you are using perishable items, you may not want to store these for next season (keep in a cool, dry place).
Supplies:
- Cinnamon Sticks
- Cinnamon Pine Cones (optional)
- Dried Lavender or Chamomile (optional)
- Dried Beans/Dried Cherry Pits/Dried Rice
- Pillow Stuffing (I used stuffing from a pillow from Dollar Tree)
- 1 Fat Quater (mine was from Walmart $0.99)
- Small Ziplock bag
- Twine
- 1 Rubber band
Directions:
- Gather Supplies. Please watch the video below with instructions and pictures!
- Place the beans/cherry pits/rice (and optional lavender/chamomile) in a small ziplock bag.
- Spread the fabric out right-side down and place the bag and pillow stuffing in the center.
- Take 3-4 cinnamon sticks and wrap a rubber band around them and place in the center of the bag.
- Take each corner of the fabric and stuff into the rubber band until the fabric is hidden.
- Tie a piece of twine around the cinnamon sticks.
- Glue a cinnamon pine cone to the top if desired.

3. How To Make a Fabric Pumpkin Using an Old Sock, Wine Cork, & Dental Floss (hand sew)
You will laugh when you see how I used dental floss, an old sock, and a wine cork to make these fabric pumpkins. But these are some of my favorites! You can also use an old sweater sleeve, an old hat… anything with a sweater or crochet material.
Supplies:
- Old Socks/Winter Hat/Sweater
- Wine Cork
- Dental Floss
- Pillow Stuffing
- Rubber band
- Sewing Needle
- Thread
Directions:
- Gather Supplies. Please watch the video below instructions and pictures!
- Cut the foot off from the sock and turn the top “ankle” section inside out.
- Use a needle and thread to sew a gathered end to the bottom of the sock.
- Turn the sock right side out and you should be left with something that resembles a belly button. ????
- Use the pillow stuffing to stuff the sock but leave enough so you can fold top inside.
- Place the cork with the rubber band around it inside the sock and push top fabric inside the rubberband.
- Thread the needle with the dental floss and sew a stitch from the bottom to the top of the pumpkin to create sections of the pumpkin.
- Tie the floss on the bottom of the pumpkin and admire your cute little creation. ????

4. Make a Huge Fabric Pumpkin Using Old Rags & An Old Sock (no-sew)
I saw a similar huge fabric pumpkin for $14.99 at Marshall’s and I challenged myself to create one of my own! This one has a fabric stem and is my favorite pumpkin out of all of the fabric pumpkins in this post! I think I like the size of this pumpkin the most but I also like the cute stem. Wait until you see what I used in the center!
Supplies:
- Fabric (a fat quarter should work for this pumpkin)
- Old rags/towels
- Pillow Stuffing (I used stuffing from a pillow from Dollar Tree)
- Dried Beans/Dried Cherry Pits/Dried Rice
- Small Ziplock bag
- Twine
- Long Black Dress Sock (I used one of my hubby’s socks LOL)
- Glue Gun
- Toilet Paper Roll (the insert only)
- Greenery (optional)
Directions:
- Gather Supplies. Please watch the video below with instructions and pictures!
- Place the dried Dried Beans/Dried Cherry Pits/Dried Rice inside the ziplock bag.
- Spread the fabric out right-side down and place the ziplock bag in the center.
- Place the toilet paper roll in the center of the ziplock bag.
- Surround the toilet paper roll with old rag/towels and finish with some pillow stuffing on the top.
- Take each corner of the fabric and start pushing it into the center of the roll.
- Continue until all fabric is wrapped into the center.
- Cut the foot off of the sock (you are using the “ankle” part of the sock).
- Cut the sock corner so you create a curve and turn inside out.
- Use a glue gun to attach the cut ends together and turn right side out when dry.
- Stuff the stem with pillow stuffing and turn remain fabric inside of the sock.
- Use a glue gun to attach to the top of the pumpkin.
- Add greenery if desired.
