Curb Appeal Ideas on a Budget
Yardzen provided us with ideas to create curb appeal which included the details for the plants, house exterior updates, and furniture. I took that information and used it to DIY our front yard ourselves or shop for similar items at a lower cost. This allowed us to stay under budget for most items. However, Yardzen provides you with contractors and you can use your own contractor to keep your project under budget.
I love that the designer left many items as-is and I don’t feel overwhelmed to redo our entire property. We’ve DIYed much of our outdoor space already and I don’t want to redo it all. The new design includes many existing items such as pathways, patios, and gardens. The best part about the designs is you choose to implement what you want.
Yardzen Front Yard
We did a lot of work on our front yard and home exterior over the past 5 years including:
- Patio replacement
- Window box addition
- Tree removal
- Landscaping Removal
- Painting
- Lighting additions
- Planting various flowers, trees, and plants
- Mulching areas

However, I felt like our house was missing some character and curb appeal. It looked good but I felt it could look better.

The below image is the second design concept with a different front door. I love the design and the curb appeal is amazing! I plan to start implementing as much as I can WITHOUT a contractor. Obviously, I can’t install a roof or driveway myself but the plants, furniture, and minor landscaping are tasks that I feel comfortable DIYing myself.

Backyard Landscaping Design on a Budget
We’ve completed a lot of upgrades to our backyard over the last 5 years including:

Phew! That was a lot we’d already had completed so I was curious what Yardzen would come up with and if they would change anything with our current design.
The Yardzen design has an improved outdoor kitchen area, functional/modern furniture, a wood accent on the house, and a traditional seating area. I love everything about this design and plan to start implementing it as much as I can WITHOUT a contractor.
