Father’s Day Gift Ideas
Make shopping for a Father’s Day gift this year a piece of cake by giving him one of the useful items on this list. The hubby helped me come up with this list (thanks, hubby!) so you can trust that there are more men out there that want these things 🙂 The items on this list range from $14-$500 so there is something affordable to something to splurge on! If he already has everything on this list, keep reading for the best fail-proof gift idea. Here are 15 Clever Father’s Day Gift Ideas that Every Dad Should Know About!
Amazon Echo
The Amazon Echo can help dad with A LOT of things! Just to name a few:
- Plays music
- Make calls and send messages
- Adjusts the temperature of the house
- Answers questions (Google)
- Plays the news/weather
- Plays audiobooks
- Controls the lights in the house
- Orders dinner
- Stores your grocery list
We have an Amazon Echo in our house and it has been a lifesaver for our family. We no longer need a radio/CD player, etc. because we only listen to music from the Echo. The speaker’s sound is amazing!
The feature we use the most is the “shopping list.” We just tell the Echo to add certain items to our shopping list and either the hubby or I can pull up the list from our phones and check things off as we buy them. It’s perfect if dad is running to the grocery store and wants to see if you need anything else on the list, he can just pull up the list on his phone and get everything!
Our Echo is connected to our Nest Thermostat so we can just ask it to lower or raise the temperature in the house. Another great feature is the ability to order from Amazon. We buy certain things monthly (our favorite protein powder is one of them) and ask the Echo to reorder it when we start to run out. Dad is sure to love this cool device! Go here to see what else the echo can do!
Amazon Dot
A cheaper Amazon Echo option is the Amazon Dot. You could also get the Dot for Dad if he already has the Echo and wants to use the Dot in another part of the house. The Amazon Dot can do everything that the Amazon Echo can do, only you need to connect it to a speaker. You can connect it to an Echo or another Bluetooth speaker. My hubby loves the Echo and Dot so much that he gives them as gifts to his clients. The father-figure in your life is sure to love this gadget! Go here to see what else the Amazon Dot can do!
Refurbished Amazon Echo
Did you know that Amazon also sells a refurbished Amazon Echo? Go here to learn more!
Smart Watch
My hubby (and dad of two) loves his smartwatch. I splurged on the Samsung Gear 3 when it first came out and it’s so much better than the Apple watch (sorry Apple lovers!). I’ve never owned an Apple watch but I’ve seen the hubby do some amazing things with his Samsung Smart Watch that you can’t do with an Apple watch.
Here are a few of the perks you get with the Samsung Gear 3 Smart Watch:
- Waterproof (he swims with it!)
- Makes payments at any store (he has used his watch to pay for things at every store!)
- Makes calls without his phone (just add a data plan)
- Fitness tracker
- Texts/Call alerts
Give Dad the ability to pay for things without his wallet and you will see his eyes light up! Seriously, my hubby has used his watch at every store we go to and it’s funny to see the cashier’s face when they see him pay with his watch! Plus this watch looks like a watch and not a “Fitbit!”

Another smartwatch that is comparable to the features of the Samsung Gear 3 is the Garmin Fenix 3 GPS. This Garmin smartwatch is also waterproof and has a fitness tracker. It also has the sleek looks of a regular watch.

Wireless Headphones
The hubby asked me for a pair of wireless headphones this past Christmas and he picked out this style.  He’s a firm believer that once you use a pair of wireless headphones, you won’t want to go back to wires! So I followed his lead and bought my first pair of wireless headphones shortly after and now, I can’t imagine going back to the “free” headphones they give you with your smartphone purchase! I decided to go with Sony headphones with extra bass 🙂
My hubby really likes his TaoTronics headphones and they weren’t too expensive. They are perfect for the gym or commuting on public transit. Go here to see all the features of the TaoTronics Bluetooth Headphones!
I’ve enjoyed my Sony headphones, however, if Dad is using these to workout, keep in mind the ears will sweat more (mine do!). However, I love the extra bass and they are 100% wireless since I don’t have that wire connecting to both ears. Go here to learn more about the Sony Extra Bass Bluetooth Headphones.
Tile-Mate Key Finder
The Tile-Mate Key Finder is a key fob that attaches to anything you don’t want to lose, like dad’s keys or phone or wallet. Never worry about losing something again with this nifty gadget!
GoPro
A GoPro is an awesome gift idea for active dads to capture those (hard to capture) moments on camera. The Hero5 is waterproof and can basically go anywhere with dad to provide some interesting videos. Take it skiing, surfing, diving, or traveling the country!

My neighbor and a few friends have a drone and it’s pretty cool to see what they can do with it. If dad is into playing with new toys, he will love a drone!

The WiOn switch gives dad the ability to control electrical switches from anywhere! Turn your home outdoor lights on and off when away from home for the holidays or turn off the lights or other devices from the comfort of your own bed!

The hubby thinks this pen is awesome! It has the ability to break glass in an emergency, collect DNA, and while it does both of these things, it is a working pen at that!

Tactical Stungun Flashlight
This tactical stun gun flashlight combo is an interesting gadget for guys. My hubby wanted one of these because he visits crime-filled areas often for work and wanted something as extra protection. Thankfully, he has yet to test it out other than turning it on and feeling the powerful zapping sensation while holding it! If dad could use a tactical device like this, he will appreciate the unique thought you put into it.

Electric Razor
The hubby tells me that an electric razor is one of those gadgets that most guys want but don’t buy for themselves. That said, dad might appreciate an electric shaver and this shaver gets good reviews on Amazon!
Jumpstart Power Station
I bought this jumpstart power station for the hubby on Father’s Day so he could easily jump-start our cars or fill the tires with air. It came in handy when my old car battery started dying pretty much every morning before I would head to work (we later found out the Bluetooth in the car was malfunctioning and draining the battery). The jumpstart power station made those mornings less hectic! If dad has an older car or wants something a bit more convenient to work on your cars, this is for him!

Travel Scope
This is something my hubby would never buy for himself but if he received as a gift he would think it’s really cool! Give dad a telescope to look at the stars!
This one gets really good reviews and says it’s a great beginner scope!

The Audible membership is perfect for Dads who want to read but don’t have time (or don’t like reading). Dad can listen to Audible books while commuting in the car, on a speaker at home (or using the Amazon Echo), while mowing the lawn, or doing other household chores.

Father’s Day Free Printable Greeting Cards
Have you noticed that greeting cards these are days are really expensive?!
Seriously, the hubby gave me a Mother’s Day card and when I looked at the price on the back (it’s a bad habit, I know) I saw that he paid close to $10 for it!
Half the time these cards end up being recycled or stuffed in a drawer causing clutter, so that day we made a pact to not buy any more greeting cards. Besides, you can find so many free ones online or make them yourself!
So, I put together a few greeting cards for my kiddos to give their dad this year and sharing them with you!
