How To Make a Magnolia Garland Video

 

This magnolia garland is beautiful and is made with paper flowers and paper leaves! All the materials used to make this magnolia flower and magnolia leaf garland can be found at Dollar Tree. I’m including the magnolia free templates below so you can make your own DIY paper plate flowers! Keep reading and watch the video below to learn how to make this $3 DIY Dollar Tree Magnolia Garland!

 

Dollar Tree Magnolia Garland DIY

 

Everything you need to make this Magnolia Garland can be found at Dollar Tree (I used cardstock from Michael’s or Hobby Lobby but Dollar Tree has construction paper that you can use or use the paper plates and paint them).

 

I was inspired to make this Magnolia Garland during my Craft with Trash Challenge.

 

 

One of the prompts on my challenge is to “make something interesting using paper plates” and I think this garland is pretty interesting!

Let me add that I know Paper Plates are not “trash,” however, the Crafts with Trash Challenge was created to help others find items around their home to use in craft projects and think outside the box.

 

FREE PRINTABLE MAGNOLIA TEMPLATE

 

For this tutorial, I made my own template.

 

You can find free paper flower templates on Cricut and I could’ve used my Cricut to cut the flowers and leaves, but I wanted to make everything by hand.

 

I’m including the FREE printable template below for you! Just click on the PINK button that says CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FREE PRINTABLE.

 

This project took about 1-2 hours to make.

Let’s get started so you can see how easy and affordable it is to make this beautiful garland!

 

DIY Dollar Tree Magnolia Garland

Once you make these paper flowers, you will find yourself making paper flowers for everything!

 

Supplies:

Directions:

  1. Gather Supplies. Watch the video below for more instructions. 
  2. Use the Free Printable template to trace the flower design onto paper plates.
  3. Use the Free Printable template to trace and cut the leaves.
  4. Cut the paper plates flowers.
  5. Fold the paper plate petals and curve them with your fingers to resemble a real flower. Lightly Spray the paper with water if needed.
  6. Cut strips of brown cardstock (1.25″ x 4″) and cut to create a “fringed” end.
  7. Use a flat edge (a credit card works!) to fold a line in the center of the leaves, then fold lines on the side on the leaves.
  8. Lightly spray with water and manipulate/fold to create a realistic leaf.
  9. Once you have all the flowers and leaves made (I made 6 flowers, 24 dark green leaves, and 8 olive green leaves), lay out the ribbon and start arranging the leaves and flowers on the ribbon.
  10. Use a glue gun to attach the flowers and leaves.
  11. Place in your decor and enjoy!
