Why Shop at Dollar Tree For Cricut Supplies
Cricut vinyl supplies at a good price are hard to find. I love crafting and making something myself rather than buying it, but sometimes the cost of supplies outweighs the cost of just buying the ready-made item. I looked for Cricut supplies at Walmart, Cricut.com, Micheal’s Stores, and Hobby Lobby, but the most affordable and cheap Cricut supplies can be found at Dollar Tree!
I first discovered Cricut Supplies from Dollar Tree when I purchased the Dollar Tree contact paper. I tested the Contact paper at Dollar Tree to see if it was of similar quality to the Cricut.com transfer paper and to my surprise, Dollar Tree contact paper was a winner!
I wondered what other Cricut supplies I might be missing that I could buy from Dollar Tree so I went shopping and came up with this list of 30 Cricut Supplies You Should Buy from the Dollar Store.
Learning how to use your Cricut is really easy and fun once you get the hang of it. If you don’t have a Cricut Access Membership, I highly recommend it. I’ve had a Cricut Access Membership for years and it’s definitely worth the minimal cost for all the benefits!
🛑 5 Hard Truths About Cricut Supplies from Dollar Tree
Dollar Tree is a goldmine for craft supplies, but not every Cricut find is a winner. After testing countless products, I discovered 5 hard truths about Cricut supplies from Dollar Tree that every crafter should know. Some items save you money—others waste your vinyl, time, and patience. Here’s the honest scoop before you stock up!
- Not Everything Works, But the Savings Add Up
Sure, some supplies aren’t perfect, but even testing Dollar Tree finds has saved me hundreds compared to buying everything from big craft stores. - Some Dollar Tree Supplies Work Just as Well as Name Brands
This was a game-changer truth for me: items like transfer tape, storage bins, and even blanks can perform just as well as Cricut-branded products for a fraction of the price. - Vinyl Quality Matters (and Dollar Tree’s Isn’t Great)
Dollar Tree vinyl rolls are cheap for a reason. They often don’t cut cleanly, don’t weed easily, and won’t stick well long-term. Spending a bit more on name-brand vinyl actually saves money (and frustration) in the long run. - Dollar Tree Lets You Try Trends Without the Guilt
I love that I can experiment with new Cricut projects on $1.25 blanks instead of spending $10–$15 each. If it doesn’t turn out, no big deal—it’s all part of the creative process. - You Can Build a Craft Stash for Pennies
The biggest truth? Dollar Tree has allowed me to build a huge variety of craft supplies—mugs, signs, seasonal blanks, storage, and more—without blowing my budget.

21. Unscented Baby Wipes
I use these unscented baby wipes to wipe down my mats after each use. The wipes are especially good to use on the pink fabric mats after using the machine to cut felt. Simply wipe the mat and use a scraper tool to get the remainder felt off the mat.
22. Lint Brush Roller
Use a lint brush roller to easily remove small cut pieces from your mats and surfaces. I like to keep one in my desk drawer in my craft room.
23. Cricut Mat Scraper Tool
Why spend money on a basic Cricut toolset (starting at $25) when you can find tools at Dollar Tree? I came across this chopper/scraper in the kitchen section that can be used as a smoothing tool or Scraper to burnish material and clean all cutting mats.

✅ Our Favorite Cricut Dollar Tree Item
This is the specific Cricut supply item that I stock up from Dollar Tree.
It’s an excellent brand, you’ll also find that it is one of the cheapest options you’ll find online.
It’s available in several colors and gets great reviews. If you can get it for under $8, grab it. That’s one heck of a deal on a Cricut contact paper! See choices, check the current price & read reviews here.
29. Contact Paper
This is my Favorite Dollar Tree Cricut hack of all! I saw this Clear Shelf liner at Dollar Tree and used it as Transfer Tape for Cricut vinyl projects and it works like a charm!
Why spend $9.99 on a small roll of transfer paper (contact paper) when you can get a huge roll at Dollar Tree? I just love this product!
You can even use these Dollar Tree Clear Contact Paper on your Cricut mats so the sticky side doesn’t wear as fast!
–>>Get Dollar Store Clear Shelf Liner (Transfer Tape) here
30. Cricut Pens & Markers Cheap
If you have a Cricut machine with a pen holder, you already know how quickly the Cricut pens dry out (and they can be expensive to replace after just a few uses!). So I tried a few pens from Dollar Tree and to my surprise, they worked great! For some pens, you might need to add a little painter’s tape around the tip (so it fits snugly in the pen holder).
The Dollar Tree had these pens in various colors and black ink!
31. Plastic Folders
Yes, you can cut a plastic folder using your Cricut machine! The deep-cut blade, rotary blade, and knife blade are amazing! Here are some Cricut craft ideas to use plastic folders!
32. Poster Board
Think of a poster board as heavy cardstock. Whatever Cricut Craft project you make using heavy cardstock can be replaced with a poster board. The Dollar Tree has several colors on the poster board as well!
33. Scissors
If you are a Crafter, you probably already own scissors, but it’s worth mentioning that the Dollar Store has scissors that you can use for Cricut projects.
34. Chipboard
Dollar Tree sells chipboard signs that you can use in your Cricut Maker machines!
35. Burlap
The Dollar Tree sells burlap ribbons in the floral section, which can be used for various Cricut projects when cutting small shapes.
36. Fabric
Yes, Dollar Tree sells fabric (in fat quarters!) but if you can’t find fabric at your local store, they do sell fabric items that can be used to cut fabric with a Cricut Maker machine.
–>>Keep in mind that you can find $0.99 Fat Quarters in Walmart’s fabric section as well!
–>>See how I used Fat Quarters to make Cricut Scrunchies in this post!
37. Duct Tape
Cricut.com has duct tape sheets but why not make your own? Use the backside (paper) of the clear shelf liner (or the paper side of vinyl that you would toss anyway) and attach duck tape to the paper to make your own sheets. Then use your Cricut machine to cut the Dollar Store duct tape!
38. Tissue Paper
Tissue paper is delicate but Cricut can cut it too!
–>>Go here to see Tissue Paper Cricut Craft ideas!

Just like Duck Tape, Cricut can cut “Washi Tape Sheets.” You can also use the Cricut pen to make washi tape labels!

😬 7 Cricut Supplies I Regret Buying at Dollar Tree
I’ve been there—excited about a budget find at Dollar Tree, only to realize it doesn’t work with my Cricut at all. After years of trial and error, I put together a list of 7 Cricut supplies I truly regret buying. If you’ve ever wondered which Dollar Tree craft supplies are worth skipping, this list will save you the frustration (and a few wasted dollars!).
- Dollar Tree Vinyl Rolls
They look like a deal, but they don’t cut or weed cleanly, and projects often peel. If you’re going to buy vinyl from Dollar Tree, think of them as prototypes to use when trying new craft ideas and when cutting simple shapes or fonts. - Cricut Joy-Sized Vinyl Rolls
These small rolls seem convenient but don’t give you enough material for bigger projects. You’ll end up wasting more and wishing you’d grabbed the larger rolls. - Glitter Paper Packs
They shred in the Cricut and don’t hold up on projects. Pretty in the store, but not worth the frustration once you cut them. - Cutting Mats
Dollar Tree mats lose tack fast, making it tough to keep materials in place. Cricut or Amazon alternatives last longer and are more reliable. - Red Aprons (Fabric Blanks)
These look great for customizing, but the material melts or scorches if you use HTV/iron-on. Not worth ruining your design (or your press). - Tote Bags (Same Meltable Fabric)
Like the aprons, these tote bags warp or melt under heat. Save your HTV for higher-quality blanks that can handle heat pressing. - Felt Rolls
Not to be confused with Dollar Tree’s felt sheets (which are good!). The rolls are thinner, flimsy, and don’t cut cleanly in a Cricut machine. Always look for the sheets instead.
✅ 10 Cricut Supplies to Always Buy at Dollar Tree
Not everything at Dollar Tree is a Cricut fail—some supplies are total game-changers! In fact, there are 10 Cricut supplies I always buy at Dollar Tree because they make crafting easier, cheaper, and just as good as high-end products. From tools to blanks, here’s what you should definitely add to your next craft store run.
- Blank Mugs & Tumblers
Perfect for vinyl projects, gifting, and personalizing for under $2. - Cutting Boards & Trays
Make amazing DIY kitchen signs or personalized gifts. - Picture Frames
Great bases for reverse canvas projects or vinyl signs. - Transfer Tape (Clear Contact Paper)
A budget swap that works surprisingly well for most vinyl projects. - Seasonal Wooden Blanks
Ornaments, signs, and cutouts for every holiday — they sell out fast, so stock up! - Storage Containers & Bins
Smaller ones are perfect for organizing vinyl scraps, tools, and blades. - Faux Leather Sheets
Great for Cricut jewelry projects and keychains at a fraction of craft store prices. - Adhesive Cork Sheets
A hidden gem for coasters and custom Cricut projects. - Vinyl Scrapers / Spatulas
Not as durable as Cricut’s, but for $1.25, they’re perfect backups. - Gift Bags & Boxes
Add vinyl to Dollar Tree gift bags for instant custom packaging.

My favorite non-Cricut brand materials
You can find other brand vinyl, iron-on, contact paper, and more outside of Cricut.com. A few of my favorites are:
- Oracal 651 Permanent Vinyl (find it here or at your local craft store)
- Siser HTV
- Dollar Tree clear contact paper (or shelf liner)
- Various fat-quarter fabrics at Walmart
- Felt sheets at local craft stores
Learning how to use your Cricut is really easy and fun once you get the hang of it. I highly recommend it if you don’t have a Cricut Access Membership. I’ve had a Cricut Access Membership for years and it’s worth the cost for all the benefits!
