In case you’re in a hurry…

✅ These are the clear plastic reusable bags I used to organize the board games in our Credenza.

Organizing a Credenza or Media Center

I organized all of our board games and DVDs in the credenza using clear acrylic bins and plastic mesh bags. I recycled the board game boxes and placed everything in the mesh bags to get the most storage. You may have seen others using these mesh bags for the same purpose and I decided to give it a try. I’m very happy with the results!

A credenza can be an excellent piece of furniture for organizing a family room. It can provide extra storage space, while also adding a stylish touch to the room. Consider what kind of items you would like to store in the credenza – books, board games, DVDs, etc.

You can also use the top of the credenza as a display area. Utilize baskets and drawer dividers to keep things neat and organized. If you have a lot of items that need to be stored, look for a credenza with plenty of drawers and shelves.

I use one of the drawers to organize my essential oils collection.

Built-In Shelves or Bookcases

We added a built-in bookcase to our family room which increased our storage space. I used baskets to organize photo albums and other memorabilia. The shelves are stocked with our favorite books.

We also have built-in shelves next to the fireplace wall that is purely decorative. I have fairy lights, candles, plants, and other decorations on this shelf but I could use it for organizing other items if needed.

How to Organize a Family Room

Organizing a family room can be a fun and rewarding experience! Here are a few tips to get you started:

  1. Declutter and sort: Begin by sorting through all the items in your family room and decide what should stay and what should go. Donate or discard items that you no longer need.
  2. Create zones: Divide the room into different zones such as a play area, a seating area, a reading area, etc. Create a designated space for each activity you plan to do in the family room.
  3. Find storage solutions: Look for storage solutions that can maximize the space in your family room. Invest in items such as ottomans with built-in storage, shelves, and baskets to help keep the room organized.
  4. Invest in multi-functional furniture: Choose furniture that can serve multiple purposes. For example, opt for an ottoman that doubles as a coffee table, or a sofa bed for occasional guests.
  5. Utilize wall space: Hang shelves, artwork, and mirrors to give your family room a more open feel and also to provide additional storage.

With a little bit of effort, you can easily organize your family room and create a space that everyone can enjoy!

Family Room Toy Organization

My kids do not have toys in our family room. All of their toys are in their bedrooms. In our last house, we had toys stored in baskets in our family room. You can find many large baskets online that are pretty and functional for toy storage.

We use the Credenza to organize board games. I used reusable plastic bags to organize all the games.

What is the Best Way to Organize a Living Room?

The best way to organize a living room is to start by grouping items together based on their function. For example, you may want to put all the seating in one area, the entertainment center in another, and the decor items in a third area. Then, you can start to arrange the items within each area to create a cohesive look and add balance to the room. To ensure everything has its own place, you can use storage baskets, shelves, and cabinets to keep items organized. Lastly, make sure to leave enough space for easy movement throughout the room and create a cozy atmosphere with added touches like throw pillows and blankets.

How Do You Arrange Things in a Small Living Room?

Arranging furniture in a small living room can be tricky, but there are a few tips that can help you make the most of the space. First of all, choose pieces that are the right size for the room. A large sectional may look nice, but it might be too bulky and take up too much space. However, the right sectional can make a living room feel cozy and not crowded.

You can always opt for a loveseat or two chairs to maximize the seating area. Additionally, use furniture for multiple purposes. Coffee tables with storage can help you keep things organized, while ottomans can double as seating and storage. Lastly, make sure to leave enough space to move around. Create a clear pathway to the door and don’t overcrowd the room. With these tips, you can make the most out of a small living room!

Credenza Makeover Tutorial

This credenza makeover was a great success! It was a fun and creative project to work on, and the end result is stunning. We used a combination of paint and stain to achieve a unique look that is sure to be a conversation starter. The project was a great way to add some charm to an otherwise boring piece of furniture, and it was a great way to add a touch of character to any room.

Wrap Up About Family Room Organization Using a Credenza

A credenza is a great way to add style and organization to your family room. Not only does it provide storage for items like books, games, and DVDs, but it also adds visual interest to the room. Plus, if you choose one with drawers or shelves, it can help you keep small items organized and out of sight. With the right style, a credenza can be an attractive and practical addition to any family room.
