There are sawtooth hangers on the back of these rustic wood sconces so if I want rustic wall decor for the bedroom, I can easily move them. DIY Wood Plank Signs
I used a pre-made wood plank sign that you can find at any local craft store, Etsy, or DIY one yourself.
You just need to cut planks and attach them to one plank in the back! If you don’t have power tools or know how to use power tools, then I suggest finding some wood plank plaques at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, or Joann Fabrics.

Farmhouse Wall Sconce & Vase Holder on a Wooden Plank Sign
I found some natural wood planked signs in the craft aisle at Tuesday Morning and knew I could use them as signs above our sofa. It wasn’t until I got home that I decided to add some old farmhouse sconces and galvanized vases that this wall DIY came together. Watch the How-To video to see how to make these farmhouse wall signs!
Supplies:
- Briarwood Wood Stain
- Farmhouse Gooseneck Wall Sconce (learn how to make some for $5 here)
- Galvanized Vase
- Screw Driver/Drill/Screws
- Sawtooth Hanger
- Greenery for the Vase
- Wood Planked Wall Plaque (find them at Tuesday Morning, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Joanne’s, Etsy… or build your own)
- Gloves
Directions:
- Gather supplies.
- Stain the wood plaques.
- Attach lights at the top using a screwdriver.
- Use the puck light trick shown in the second video below.
- Attach the Vase using a screwdriver/drill.
LIGHTING TIP for sconces: these are not hard-wired into our electrical system. I used puck-lights, attached by wall-mounting tape to create a magic-light trick (inspired by Nesting With Grace).
