Simple Thanksgiving Table Setting
If you’re hosting for Thanksgiving and need some last-minute table decorations, keep watching to see how I created an elegant Thanksgiving tablescape using Dollar Tree items! These Thanksgiving Table Decor ideas are easy to create last minute using the Free Printables below.
In case you’re in a hurry…
To get started, I grabbed a few things from Dollar Tree, including this brown wrapping paper used for shipping.
Supplies:
- Crafters Square Vinyl Roll
- Martinelli’s Sparkling Cider
- Fabric rolls
- Ribbon
- Pinking Shears
- Free Printables
- Cricut Joy
- Cricut Joy Smart Vinyl
- Cricut Joy Smart Transfer Tape
- Sticker Paper
- Brown Kraft PaperÂ
DIY No- Sew Fabric Napkins
I started by making some no-sew fabric napkins.
These measure 18 x 18 inches so I cut the excess material off using pinking sheers. The pinking sheers help to keep the fabric from fraying but before cutting, be sure to wash the fabric so it’s ready to go. You can hand wash and hang to dry to reduce the fraying. Then I folded the fabric in half and in half again and cut all the edges with the pinking sheers.
Then I folded the napkins to fit in the silverware sleeves I planned to use.
Free Printable Thanksgiving Silverware Sleeves
I created an editable free printable that you can download from my blog library. The link will open the project I created in Canva so you can just click on the text box and add names to personalize your silverware sleeves.
If you need more than one page, just duplicate the page and keep editing. Then save as a printable PDF and print. I printed mine on brown craft paper but you can use any color cardstock. Then cut the sleeves and wrap around the fabric napkins using double-sided tape to secure the back.
Add your silverware and you have a personalized assigned seating card for Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving Favors
Next, I created some Thanksgiving favors that can be consumed on Thanksgiving or taken home.
I used some gold paper found in the party section of Dollar Tree and cut it to fit around the sparkling cider bottles. These were 3 x 8 inches. Then I printed the free printable labels, which are included in my library, on sticker paper.
I used my pinking sheers to cut these out since I’m not very good at cutting perfect circles. Then I stuck them to the bottle wrappers and added some gold and white ribbon from Dollar Tree.
Thanksgiving Leftovers Packages
If you download the free printables, you also get these Thanksgiving Leftover labels, which I used a couple of different ways.
I printed mine on white cardstock and cut out the labels using the pinking shears. I cut 2 strips of brown craft paper, and taped them together to wrap around a Dollar Tree food container. I’ll show you how to attach it this way in a minute…
But I first attached the label using ribbon, a hole puncher, and tying the ribbon around the box.
To create the paper sleeve, I attached the Levertovers label to the top using double-sided tape and taped the underside. This way, you have a sleeve that is easy to remove.
You can also print these as stickers and attach them that way.
DIY Dollar Tree Thanksgiving Plates
For this last project, I wanted to add a vinyl decal to some Dollar Tree glass plates to use as appetizer plates. I used 2 leaf images in Cricut Design Space and planned to use black vinyl and gold vinyl. I added some numbers to each decal so guests know which plate was theirs.
I mirrored the images before cutting on my Cricut Joy since I planned to attach the vinyl under the pates. Then I let my Cricut Joy machine go to work! By the way, if you’re looking for a creative gift idea, I found the best Cricut Joy sale online and linked in the video description!
Once I had the vinyl cut, weeded, and clear contact paper attached, I pressed the images on the underside of the plates and they were ready for the table setting. This vinyl is removable so I’ll probably remove the decals later and make something similar for Christmas.
Setting a Thanksgiving Table
Then it was time to start setting up the tablescape. I used my pinking sheers to cut the end. I used the brown paper across the table to use as a disposable tablecloth. It’s also a cut idea for guests to scribble notes or kids to draw on while at the table. You can even write the names of your food dishes on it!
I used fabric placemats, Dollar Tree gold charges, our everyday dinner plates, the DIY appetizer plates with the fabric napkin, silverware paper sleeves, and gold flatware. It all came together very quickly and you can even prep ahead and set these things aside if you need to.
Dollar Tree DIY Thanksgiving Centerpiece
For the centerpiece, I used Dollar Tree candlesticks and battery-operated candles with some greenery around them.
I added sparkling cider bottles, some mandarin oranges, and wood stems from Dollar Tree to give it a nature vibe. I would have used pinecones but I was just working with what I had at the time. I also added some cinnamon sticks to give a natural aroma.
