Laundry Room Remodel Reveal (with Smart Organization Ideas!)
Our laundry room remodel is finally complete — and I’m so excited to share how this small space was completely transformed in just 3 days using new cabinets from HomeCabinets.com. This room used to feel dark, cluttered, and honestly… just very blah. But with fresh cabinets, simple finishes, and thoughtful organization, it now feels clean, functional, and actually enjoyable to use. Let’s walk through everything we changed — plus how I organized the cabinets using items you already saw in the photos.

What We Changed in the Laundry Room✨
Removed the old cabinets + peel-and-stick tile 🗑️
We started by removing the old cabinets and the subway tile peel-and-stick wallpaper. While it looked fine initially, it didn’t hold up long-term and made the space feel busy.
Painted the walls + floor 🎨
Fresh paint made an instant difference.
I painted:
- The walls a soft, warm neutral (greige)
- The floor to brighten the space and give it a clean, cohesive look
Paint alone completely changed the feel of this room.
Reused the existing sink 🚰
To save money and reduce waste, we reused our original sink — which worked perfectly with the new setup. A simple refresh like this can make a big impact without replacing everything.
Added a butcher block countertop 🪵
The butcher block countertop adds warmth and contrast against the white cabinets. It’s practical, durable, and brings in that cozy Scandinavian feel I love.
Installed new cabinets from HomeCabinets.com 🚪
The real star of this remodel is the cabinetry.
We installed:
- New base cabinets
- Upper cabinets
- A tall cabinet for storage
The cabinets from HomeCabinets.com were incredibly well made and straightforward to install. From start to finish, the entire remodel took just 3 days.
🧺 Finished with a new rug
A neutral runner softened the space, added texture, and made the room feel more finished and inviting.
Designing the New Cabinets (The Most Important Step)
One thing I really want to emphasize:
The design process was extensive — and that’s a good thing.
When working with HomeCabinets.com, I was able to:
- Carefully plan the layout
- Double-check every measurement
- Design around our washer, dryer, and sink placement
- Make sure cabinet sizes and spacing were correct before ordering
- I took screenshots of the cabinet design and layout (which I’ll share below) because this step matters so much. Taking time here prevents costly mistakes later.
👉 If you’re remodeling a laundry room or kitchen, measure everything twice — wall to wall, appliance depth, ceiling height, and clearance for doors and drawers.
Cabinet Ordering + Shipping Experience
Once the design was finalized, ordering was easy.
- Shipping was faster than expected
- Everything arrived on a pallet
- Cabinets were extremely well packaged
- No damage, dents, or misaligned doors (which I’ve experienced with other companies)
We’ve remodeled using:
- Replacement cabinet doors
- Ready-to-assemble cabinets
- Prebuilt cabinets
- Custom cabinetry
And I can honestly say these cabinets arrived in perfect condition — the double doors were lined up perfectly, which is something we’ve had issues with in the past.
Cabinet Assembly & Installation
The cabinets were very easy to assemble.
I followed the video instructions provided, and the process was smooth.
Tools we used:
- Table saw
- Miter saw
- Power drill
- Stud finder
- Nail gun
The cabinet boxes went together quickly, felt sturdy, and looked beautiful once installed.
The Floating Shelf Challenge (And How We Solved It)
The only tricky part of this entire install was the floating shelves.
Floating shelves from HomeCabinets.com come in standard sizes, and our space fell right in between those sizes. I wasn’t sure if we needed to:
- Order a different size
- Adjust the cabinet spacing
- Or cut them down
We decided to cut the floating shelves to size, and everything worked out perfectly. Once installed, they look completely custom — you would never know they were modified.
I did contact HomeCabinets.com support to aska bout cutting the floating shelves and they called me and asked if I was able to figure it out (we cut them by that time) so it’s good to know their support is there if you need anything.
Countertop & Sink Choices
HomeCabinets.com does not sell countertops or sinks, which honestly gave us more flexibility.
What we did:
- Reused our existing sink (still in great condition)
- Purchased a butcher block countertop from Home Depot
- Cut and installed it ourselves
👉 Another great option would be IKEA countertops, which are easy to cut at home for DIY projects.
The butcher block adds warmth and balances the white cabinets beautifully.
Other Updates We Made
- Painted the walls a soft greige
- Painted the floor to brighten the space
- Removed old peel-and-stick tile
- Added a new neutral runner rug
- Styled open shelving for a clean, minimal look
Laundry Room Organization (Cabinet-by-Cabinet) 🧼
I wanted everything to feel functional but still aesthetic — nothing cluttered, nothing random.
Watch me Organize Our Laundry Room in Under 60 Seconds
Upper Cabinets (Everyday Laundry Storage) 🧻
Top shelf
- Extra paper towels
- Bulk items stored upright for easy grabbing
- Middle shelf
- Clear bins for:
- Microfiber cloths
- Cleaning rags
- Specialty laundry tools
- Clear bins keep everything visible and Instagram-worthy.
Bottom shelf
- Detergent, stain removers, fabric sprays
- Lazy Susans so I can spin and grab without digging
👉 Tip: Group products by task, not brand.
Cabinet Under the Sink 🧴
This cabinet stays practical but tidy:
- A clean bin labeled “Fresh & Clean” for Oxi Clean Powder
- Fire extinguisher tucked neatly to the side
- No loose bottles rolling around
Keeping everything contained makes this cabinet easy to reset.
Lower Cabinet Storage 🧺
- A dedicated laundry storage tin for pods or bulk detergent
- Extra supplies stored vertically to maximize space
Drawer Organization 🔑
Yes — even the laundry room gets a drawer.
I use this drawer for:
- Keys
- Small tools
- Random items that need a “home”
- Clear drawer dividers keep everything neat and easy to find.
Wall Storage + Drying Area 🪝
On the opposite wall, I styled:
- Hooks for hanging items to air dry
- A thrifted basket (my $4 favorite!) with a laundry sign
- Towels + lightweight items for drying
This area is both functional and decorative, which makes the room feel intentional.
Final Thoughts 🧺
This remodel proves you don’t need a massive space or a huge timeline to make a big impact. With the right cabinets, thoughtful storage, and simple finishes, a laundry room can feel just as beautiful as the rest of your home. These cabinets exceeded my expectations in every way — from design and shipping to installation and final result. They look custom, feel solid, and fit perfectly with the rest of our home. We’re so happy with how this remodel turned out that we’re seriously considering using the same cabinets for a future kitchen remodel.
