The Funniest Halloween Skeleton Setup Ever
This year, our skeletons ditched the graveyard and went straight to the beach lounge chairs. Complete with tropical drinks, sun hats, and flip-flops, this display got a spooky upgrade with a giant sunscreen bottle and a Cricut-made ‘UV Is Deadly Today’ sign. It’s the perfect mix of spooky + silly, and it might just be my favorite Halloween setup yet. Keep reading to see this DIY Skeleton Halloween Decor with Cricut Sign + Giant Sunscreen!

🛒 Supplies You’ll Need
Here’s what I used to create the skeleton poolside look — most of these can be found at Dollar Tree, thrift stores, or on Amazon (affiliate links below 💕).
- 🦴 Skeletons (full-size + skeleton pets if you want extra laughs)
- 🟠 Orange Spotlights
- 🩱 Bathing suits & Hawaiian shorts (thrift store finds)
- 🍹 Plastic tumblers with straws (Dollar Tree)
- 🩴 Flip flops (Dollar Tree or Five Below)
- 🗑️ Large plastic container or protein tub (to turn into the sunscreen bottle)
- 🪵 Wood shims (for the pump handle)
- 🎨 White & orange spray paint
- 🖨️ Cricut machine (any model works for vinyl sign-making)
- 🏷️ Permanent vinyl in black & orange
- 📏 Transfer tape & weeding tools
- 🪚 Plywood or foam board for sign
- 🪑 Modern Wooden Lounge Chairs
- 🕯 Solar Lanterns
✂️ How to Make the Cricut UV Warning Sign
This sign is the perfect finishing touch! Here’s how I made it with my Cricut:
- Design in Cricut Design Space – I typed out “☀️ THE UV IS DEADLY TODAY” in bold fonts. I used a heavier font for “DEADLY” to make it pop.
- Cut the Vinyl – Load black and orange vinyl into your Cricut and cut the letters.
- Weed the Design – Remove excess vinyl with your weeding tool.
- Transfer the Letters – Use transfer tape to place your design on plywood (painted white first).
- Seal (Optional) – If outdoors, add a layer of Mod Podge Outdoor for protection.
🧴 How to Make the Giant Sunscreen Bottle
This was the crowd favorite — it looks like something straight out of a cartoon!
- Start with a large container – I used a protein powder tub, but you could use a small trash can too.
- Make the pump – Cut a pool noodle down to size and pair it with painted wood shims to mimic the pump handle. Spray paint the whole thing white.
- Paint + Label – Spray paint your container white (or orange) and add a Cricut-cut vinyl label that says “SUNSCREEN SPF 1000 – Skeleton Protection Factor.”
- Attach the pump – Hot glue or E6000 glue your pump to the lid.
- Set it poolside – Place next to your skeletons with the sign for the full effect!
👶💀 Don’t Forget Baby Bones!
One of my favorite last-minute touches was adding Baby Bones to the setup. I scored the cutest little outfit for her during a quick thrift store run (proof that it always pays to check one more time!). To make it look like she was playing in the sand, I laid a piece of burlap fabric underneath her — super simple, but it added so much personality to the display. This tiny detail really made the whole poolside skeleton family feel complete!
