The Before: Our Overloaded Entryway🪞
Before this makeover, our entryway had potential — but it was overflowing with hats, totes, and our trusty IKEA shoe cabinet. The gallery wall looked cute but busy, and it just wasn’t the calm, welcoming space I wanted.
So I decided to simplify. I wanted something modern, cozy, and functional — a space that worked for every season but felt extra special at Christmas.
The Console That Changed Everything🪵
When this Tribesigns 55″ Farmhouse Console Table arrived, I instantly knew it would anchor the space.
I chose this console for its:
- Perfect size (55″ wide, 11.8″ deep — ideal for narrow walls!)
- Warm wood finish that complements our flooring and neutral palette
- Open shelf storage for baskets, greenery, and seasonal styling
- Budget-friendly quality that looks designer without the price tag
It completely transformed the entryway and became the foundation for every project that followed.

DIY Painted Artwork Canvas 🖼️
Let’s start with the art! I grabbed a **36×48″ canvas** from Michaels for just $25 and decided to paint my own piece to match our neutral aesthetic.
How I made it:
1. Painted the background using leftover wall paint for a perfect color match.
2. Added soft abstract shapes in beige, tan, and warm cream tones using acrylics.
3. Outlined subtle curved lines for dimension—modern yet timeless!
It ties beautifully with the light oak tones of the console and the soft greige walls.

🪶 Simple Everyday Styling
Before adding holiday decor, I styled the console for everyday use:
- A small plant for greenery
- A neutral ceramic bowl to catch keys
- A minimal layout that let the art and console shine
On the opposite wall, I kept my Florida-style snake plant, added my new DIY wood knobs, and installed a fun LED sign that says “This Is Our Happy Place.”
The LED not only adds a cozy glow — it cleverly hides an electrical outlet that I couldn’t move!
DIY Wood Knob Wall Hooks 🧰
I made these myself using unfinished wood knobs from the craft store.
Tutorial:
- Drill a hole through each knob center.
- Use wall anchors and screws to mount them securely.
- Glue a small flat wood circle to the front for a designer look.
- Stain with a warm wood tone to match the console.
They look high-end but were so affordable — and now they hold our hats, tote bags, and the Santa Mail basket!
Cricut Paper Holly Garland + “JOLLY” Banner ✂️
Every space needs a little Christmas cheer, and mine came in the form of a **Cricut paper holly garland** with a playful “JOLLY” banner.
Supplies:
- Green cardstock (two shades for depth)
- Red cardstock for berries
- Gold glitter paper for stars
- Baker’s twine
- SVG files available in Craft & Create Club
Steps:
1. Cut layered holly leaves using two green tones for dimension.
2. Assemble with a mix of large and small leaves.
3. Add red “berries” using Dollar Tree ornaments and hot glue for a 3D pop.
4. String gold stars and the red “JOLLY” letters on baker’s twine and drape over the canvas.

Dollar Tree “Santa Mail” Basket 📬
This might be my favorite project! I turned a Dollar Tree shower caddy into a festive mail holder for Christmas cards.
How I made it:
1. Cut off the bottom shelf using wire cutters.
2. Wrapped the entire frame in jute rope with hot glue.
3. Added a little handmade sign that says “Santa Mail” (and “Love Notes” on the back for Valentine’s Day!).
4. Finished with a gold glitter star cut on my Cricut for a touch of holiday sparkle.
It hangs perfectly on our wooden wall knobs—ideal for collecting Christmas cards, letters to Santa, or little love notes in the new year.
💡 Finishing Touches
I finished the look with a few cozy details:
- My Florida red truck tote bag on the hook wall for a pop of color.
- Subtle greenery on the console’s bottom shelf.
- Warm evening lighting from the LED sign for that signature “cozy entry glow.”
Everything came together to feel festive, functional, and totally Simple Made Pretty.
