DIYs #1-3: Old-Fashioned Candy Jars Display 🍬
This trio might be my favorite! Each jar looks straight out of an old-fashioned candy shop — from the “hand-dipped” chocolate spoons to the peppermint swirl lollipops. I used felt, ribbon, pipe cleaners, and printable labels to give them a vintage look that’s easy to recreate with supplies you already have. Together, they make the perfect centerpiece for a kitchen counter or cozy holiday vignette. This sweet trio is the perfect tabletop centerpiece for your kitchen counter or credenza!
DIY 1: Old-Fashioned Peppermint Sticks
These oversized “peppermint sticks” look good enough to eat — but they’re made with red felt, white trim, and kraft paper tubes! I love how vintage they look tucked into a jar with the Old-Fashioned Peppermint Sticks label. They’re a sweet nod to the candy counters from old Christmas movies.
DIY 2: Peppermint Lollipops
These faux peppermint swirl lollipops are one of my favorite details — made from leftover ribbon and felt glued to spoons. They add such a playful touch to any kitchen or hot cocoa bar display.
DIY 3: Hand-Dipped Chocolate Spoons
Nothing says cozy Christmas like hot cocoa — so I had to make these faux Hand-Dipped Chocolate Spoons! A bit of brown puff paint and tiny peppermint embellishments turn simple spoons into the cutest festive props.
You’ll need:
- 3 glass jars (I used pickle jars)
- Printable jar labels (get the free printable below 👇)
- Red & white felt, ribbon, and wooden spoons
How to make:
- Wrap red felt around a rolled towel or tube to form large candy sticks. Add white felt “stripes.”
- Paint wooden spoons with brown “chocolate” puff paint and top with faux peppermint buttons.
- Make red-and-white swirl “lollipops” by gluing ribbon or sequin trim in a spiral onto white felt circles.
- Add labels to jars:
- Old Fashioned Peppermint Sticks
- Peppermint Lollipops
- Hand-Dipped Chocolate Spoons
- Tie a gingham bow on each jar and display them together on a tray of faux snow.

DIY #4: Candy Cane Lane Sign 🍭
This sign feels so nostalgic — a mix of red felt, peppermint accents, and a gingham background that gives it that “old soda shop” charm. It reminds me of simpler Christmases filled with peppermint cocoa and Christmas records playing in the background.
Using felt, pipe cleaners, and printable letters, I made two coordinating Christmas signs”
DIY #5: Gingerbread Bakery Sign
This round sign ties the whole gingerbread theme together! I used layered cardstock and felt with pipe cleaner “icing” to create a vintage bakery look. It’s the perfect companion piece for the gingerbread house — like they belong in the same little village.
How to make:
- Layer red and tan felt over cardstock or a wood base.
- Use white puff paint or vinyl for text.
- Add faux candy accents and trim edges with “icing” lines.
- Display them on easels, trays, or your kitchen counter.
🧁 Optional: Sweet Treats Bookcase Display

DIY #6-8: Gingerbread & Peppermint Garland Set 🍪
This triple garland is pure Christmas magic! It layers greenery, peppermint candies, and smiling gingerbread men for a bakery-inspired holiday look. I used felt, pipe cleaners, and ribbon to make it lightweight and easy to store flat after the season. You can recreate this layered garland using only felt shapes and pipe cleaners! Hang all three garlands together for that cozy candy shop look above your mantel, window, or TV stand.
DIY #6: Greenery Garland:
For this one, I took a few mini wreaths and opened them up to create a longer garland. Then I added peppermint “candies” made from twisted pipe cleaners to give it that whimsical Candy Cane Lane touch. It’s simple, but it instantly makes the whole space feel festive and handmade — like something straight out of a cozy Christmas bakery.
DIY #7: Gingerbread Men:
These little gingerbread men might be my favorite! I used brown felt cutouts and decorated them with white puff paint “icing” and mini red bows. Then I strung them onto candy cane twine to tie the look together. They add so much personality — each one looks like it’s smiling right at you!
DIY #8: Peppermint Candies Garland
This peppermint candy garland is the perfect finishing touch! I made the swirls from red and white felt and pipe cleaners, then wrapped the edges in white felt “wrappers.” They look just like giant peppermints, and hanging them up really ties the whole Candy Cane Gingerbread theme together.
DIY #9: Gingerbread Grater House 🏠
I turned a plain kitchen grater into the sweetest little gingerbread house! Who knew a kitchen grater could turn into the sweetest little gingerbread house? I covered it with brown felt, added white icing details, and finished with candy cane trim. When it’s lit from inside, it glows just like a cozy bakery window.
How to make:
- Wrap brown felt around the grater, trimming around the base and handle.
- Cut white felt “icing” scallops for the roofline and glue in place.
- Use white puff paint to draw icing details — dots, swirls, and windows.
- Add candy cane handles and peppermint accents using pipe cleaners.
- Place a tealight or LED candle inside — the holes let the light glow through beautifully!
🕯️ This one looks magical on a kitchen shelf or window ledge.
If you have extra space (or fake cupcakes like I do 🍰), try this idea:
- Stack Christmas cookbooks or print holiday book covers.
- Add faux cupcakes, cookies, and peppermint décor to each shelf.
- Display your Gingerbread House on the top shelf like a bakery window.
It’s a fun, whimsical touch that turns any bookcase into a Candy Cane Sweet Shop.
💬 Final Thoughts
And that’s my Candy Cane & Gingerbread Christmas reveal! 🎄✨ What started as a handful of random craft supplies turned into the sweetest holiday setup — complete with a cozy gingerbread bakery, peppermint candy jars, and handmade garlands that make our home feel magical again.
When I look at it all together, it reminds me of those simpler Christmases growing up — when the record player was spinning, candles were glowing, and the whole house smelled like sugar cookies. I hope these projects inspire you to slow down, get creative, and make something beautiful with what you already have.
Because at the end of the day, that’s what makes Christmas special — not perfect decorations, but the memories we create while making them. ❤️
