WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS
It’s okay if you aren’t entirely sure what essential oils are and their purpose – I didn’t either until 2016, however, I wish I knew about them 20 years ago!
Essential Oils are natural oils extracted from plants and trees. From Young Living’s Website: “Extracted through careful steam distillation, resin tapping, and cold pressing, the purest essential oils are far more powerful than the botanical from which they come.
Essential oils have enhanced lives for thousands of years, offering a variety of benefits from cosmetic and dietary purposes to spiritual and religious use.”
You can use essential oils topically, inhale them, or ingest them. When applied topically, the oils travel through your bloodstream and every cell in your body in about 20 minutes.
You can inhale essential oils by diffusing them or simply inhaling directly from the bottle. Some oils can be ingested by adding a few drops to beverages, food or in a capsule. I’ve personally experienced major positive health changes by ingesting essential oils after discovering I had an overactive thyroid and Graves Disease.

15 Incredibly Useful Supplies If You Use Essential Oils
I believe everyone should at least try using essential oils. I used to be one of those people that thought essential oils were a joke (I thought they were used to make things smell good and that’s about it). I didn’t know they had powers and benefits or would change the way I use many products going forward.
15 Incredibly Useful Essential Oils Supplies
Young Living Essential Oils Starter Kit
I don’t use any other essential oils other than Young Living, but I have never used anything else either but I’m glad I didn’t waste my time with other brands because from what I hear online, Young Living produces the best quality essential oils. I bought my first kit in Spring of 2016 and it changed my life. In the time that I started using essential oils, I was diagnosed with Graves Disease (you can read the whole story here) and started using essential oils to support my thyroid health. Needless to say, I use them for many more things now than just making my house smell good!
If you are interested in a starter kit with Young Living, go here. You can always reach out to me for questions, as I would love to help you on your essential oils journey!
Lip Balm Tubes
Making lip balm with essential oils was one of the first body products I ever made. It was so easy using these lip balm tubes and I will never buy lip balm again! Go here to see my recipe for a natural lip balm with free printable labels here or try a tinted lip balm recipe here.
2 oz Amber Glass Spray Bottles
These amber glass spray bottles can hold anything and everything that you mix up with your essential oils. I’ve used mine for DIY room spray, natural furniture polish, homemade bug repellant, DIY dry shampoo spray, natural makeup finisher, and more! Storing your essential oil solutions in dark-colored glass bottles is important because if exposed to sun rays or plastic, the oils will be robbed of their properties and scent. Go here to discover 15 natural cleaning recipes using essential oils.
2 oz. Amber Dropper Bottles
These amber dropper bottles come in handy when you need a small bottle but not a spray bottle. I’ve used these for homemade Face Serum and DIY Astringent. Storing your essential oil solutions in dark colored glass bottles is important because if exposed to sun rays or plastic, the oils will be robbed of their properties and scent.
16 oz Amber Glass Bottles
I’ve used these 16 0zs. amber glass pump bottles for homemade bubble bath and DIY body wash. For spray solutions, I’ve used these 16 ozs. amber glass spray bottles for natural all-purpose cleaning spray. Storing your essential oil solutions in dark colored glass bottles is important because if exposed to sun rays or plastic, the oils will be robbed of their properties and scent.
4 oz. Glass Mason Jars
I use these 4 ozs. jelly jars for everything! They are the perfect size for homemade face cream, DIY sugar scrub, natural body butter, homemade foundation powder (yep, I make makeup using natural ingredients too).
8 oz. Amber Squeeze Bottles
These amber squeeze bottles are plastic, but however, their dark color still shields the essential oils from the sun. I’ve used them for homemade moisturizing shampoo and natural body wash. Storing your essential oil solutions in dark-colored glass bottles is important because if exposed to sun rays or plastic, the oils will be robbed of their properties and scent.
USB Diffuser
I love having the ability to diffuse essential oils in my car or on-the-go using my laptop! This little USB diffuser has served me well and is easy to transport. Must-have if you enjoy diffusing oils!
Roller Ball Caps (fits essential oil bottles)
These roller ball caps come in handy when you want to recycle old essential oils bottles. I use mine to make roller ball blends, snap the cap on and done! These rollerballs cap ONLY fit on essential oil bottles. If you are looking for standard roller bottles, check out my fav next!
Roller Bottles
These bottles are perfect for roller ball blends if you don’t want to spend the money on the roller ball caps. Or try them both and see which you prefer.
✅ Don’t forget to grab these popular roller ball labels!

Essential Oils Travel Bag
As I mentioned above, my son was sick with the stomach bug and then we went on vacation and my daughter got sick with the stomach bug. In order to prepare for our vacation, I purchased this handy little essential oils travel bag and I’m so glad I did! I don’t think my daughter would’ve recovered as quickly if I didn’t have my oils with me.
Coconut Oil
You probably already have coconut oil in your pantry but if not, it’s worth keeping as a pantry staple. We use coconut oil for cooking and in recipes, including essential oils recipes. Some essential oils recipes may call for fractionated coconut oil, which is simply liquid form. Whereas, non-fractionated coconut oil (get the organic extra virgin if possible) is solid form and can be used for cooking, baking, and essential oils recipes that call for it, like body butter.
Witch Hazel
Witch Hazel is another staple you may already have in your home. It is used as an anti-inflammatory compound produced from a shrub. Many commercial healthcare products contain witch hazel since it’s known to help with skin irritations. Witch hazel is a common ingredient used in many DIY essential oil solutions.
Carrier Oils
I use grapeseed oil as a carrier oil for my roller ball blends. A carrier oil is called for in roller ball blends in order to dilute the essential oils to reduce skin irritation and sensitivity. Some oils are very potent and when applied to directly to the skin without dilute will cause a reaction. Other oils you can use as a carrier oil is fractionated coconut oil, sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, and avocado oil.
Essential Oils Storage Box
Once I started “collecting” many different essential oils, my storage was overloaded! I wanted my oils in one central organized location and not scattered all over the house. I invested in this wooden essential oils box which is beautifully made, protects my oils, and has plenty of space.
If you use essential oils and don’t own a few of these items, be sure to pick them up. These 15 Incredibly Useful Essential Oils Supplies are extremely helpful when learning how to make the most of your essential oils!

WHERE TO BUY ESSENTIAL OILS
I only use Young Living essential oils because of the quality and their method of distilling produce the best essential oils available on the market today. In fact, Young Living has a Seed to Seal guarantee that surpasses any other oil company’s guarantee of the quality and purity of their oils. Now, I don’t know about you, but I’d rather pay a little more guaranteed quality oils than paying a little less for cheap oils that may or may not provide the same benefit.
Also, Do Not Buy Young Living Essential Oils from Amazon, eBay or other third-party sites.
The reason I only buy oils directly from Young Living is the same reason I wouldn’t buy a designer handbag from the back of a van on a street corner. It’s probably not the real thing or has been tampered with in some way. You wouldn’t want to apply or ingest an “oil” that someone put something strange in or receive a bottle of “water” instead of oil (trust me, this happens all the time!). Please don’t be the one that gets scammed by buying essential oils anywhere other than Young Living!
Now that that’s out of the way, here are few more facts & benefits that Young Living offers:
- YL offers many membership benefits, including monthly essential oils, rewards programs to earn FREE product
