Here’s exactly how I did it ⬇️
🧡 1. DIY Fall Pillows with a Thrifted Tee & Grocery Bags
Forget buying seasonal pillows that cost $20+ each. I grabbed a size 4X thrifted tee shirt for $2 in a gorgeous rust-orange shade and turned it into cozy pillow covers. The best part? I stuffed them with grocery store bags I already had at home — no pillow insert required!
- Cut the tee into squares
- Sew or hot glue three sides, stuff with bags, then seal the last edge
Boom: instant fall pillow for under $2
These pillows add a pop of autumn color to my chairs without breaking the budget.
🍁 2. Upcycled Wood Sign with PVPP Cricut Method
Next up, I gave new life to an old wood sign using my Cricut and the PVPP method (Paint, Vinyl, Paint, Peel).
- Painted the base a creamy white
- Applied vinyl letters that spelled HELLO FALL
- Painted over the letters in warm brown
- Peeled away the vinyl to reveal crisp lettering
This trick gives you a hand-painted look without having to master brush lettering. It’s a budget-friendly Cricut craft that makes a big statement on the porch.
🌿 3. $2 Fall Wreath Makeover
Instead of buying a brand-new wreath, I repurposed a grapevine wreath I already had on hand. Using just two Dollar Tree fall leaf stems ($2.00 total), I tucked them into the grapevine and finished it with a burlap bow I made from scraps.
It’s rustic, bright, and welcoming — and no one would ever guess it cost less than a coffee!
🕯 4. Burlap Bows + Flameless Candles on Lanterns
I had two solar-powered lanterns on my porch already, but they felt a little plain for fall. With a few strips of burlap tied into bows and some flameless candles tucked inside, they instantly became warm, glowing accents for the season.
🌸 5. Upcycled Fall Flower Pot Arrangement
Finally, I gave a tired flower pot a makeover using Dollar Tree fall leaf stems ($3), pampas grass, green filler stems, and faux mums I already had. By layering the textures, it looks full and high-end without the price tag.
🎃 The Final Look
For just $10 (really!), I transformed my front porch into a cozy fall retreat with:
- DIY pillows
- Cricut-crafted wood sign
- $2 wreath
- Lantern glow-up
- Faux floral arrangement
It’s proof that you don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars at big-box stores to create a welcoming seasonal entryway. With a little creativity, thrifting, and repurposing what you already have, you can create décor that feels both festive and budget-friendly.
🍂 More Easy Ways to Spruce Up Your Front Porch
Even if you’re working with a small budget, there are plenty of simple touches that can make your porch feel festive and welcoming:
- Pumpkins – real or faux! (Here in Florida, I stick to faux pumpkins since the heat makes real ones spoil fast 🌴🎃)
- A cozy throw blanket – draped over a chair or bench instantly adds warmth and texture.
- Layered doormats – a plaid rug under your welcome mat creates a designer look for less. Find a tutorial to make a personalized doormat with your Cricut machine here (FREE SVG inside!).
- String lights or fairy lights – add a magical glow for fall evenings.
- Seasonal accents – think a basket of pinecones, a galvanized bucket with dried grasses, or even a fall-themed pillow.
Small, budget-friendly details like these will pull your whole porch together and make it the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of cider on a crisp fall evening.
