DIY Breakfast Nook Banquette Seating
The breakfast room is the only eating area in our home because we use our dining room as a home office (the hubby and I both work from home). We also have a kitchen bar with 4 bar stools but this eat-in kitchen is the space we use daily for dining.
Since we are limited on dining space, the hubby helped me build this DIY kitchen banquette with storage. Well, he did most of the building, I just told him what I wanted 😉 A full blog post on how we built it is coming soon!
The table is a DIY using a cheap Ikea table and a piece of plywood on top! You can see more about how we built the table in this post.
I made the cushions using foam, a mattress topper, and a canvas drop cloth. I share how to make no-sew cushions and french mattress cushions on Instagram here.
The pillows are made using rugs from Five Below and I used old towels as the inserts! Find the No-Sew Rug Pillow video here!
Our kitchen has come a long way since we bought this house. You can see all the Before pics in this post with How to Paint your Kitchen Cabinets (PS our cabinets are fake wood!).
I love decorating these DIY Dollar Tree Farmhouse Mug Racks next to our pantry. I have a lot of mugs and these look perfect in our tiny kitchen!

Family Room Summer Decorations
Our Family room decor is mostly neutral colors with a rustic decor style. We recently moved a sectional sofa out of the family room so we are transitioning the furniture and fireplace wall to something different soon!
Our fireplace is fake and you can learn How to Build a Faux Fireplace in this post. The insert for our fireplace is just a piece of chalkboard vinyl!

Entryway Summer Decor
This year we updated our entryway to an Ikea shoe cubby topped with a thick piece of pine. It fits really well in the space and I get many compliments when guests enter our home 🙂
Opposite the shoe cubby wall is a hat wall. We have lots of hats living in Florida! I used some accordion hooks from Five Below to hang the hats on the wall.

Laundry Room Summer Decor
I didn’t decorate our laundry room for Summer. Instead, I decluttered all of the seasonal outerwear and bags to clean up space.
These upper cabinets were repurposed from our kitchen and are painted with Simply White by Behr. The baskets are from Marshall’s but you can find similar ones at Dollar Tree.
The Pipe Style shelf brackets are one of my most requested finds on Instagram and I’ve used them in 3 different rooms in our house!

Game Room Decor
Our Game room is a small space (this is actually the dining room in our home!) and I decorated it to be ready for guests that plan to visit us this Summer. We changed our sofa to a sofa bed so this room is now a guest room in our house! This is my favorite room to watch movies. It is really the coziest spot in the house and the best for snuggling and enjoying your favorite movies.
I used some large frames from Ikeas and printed Engineer Prints from Staples for $3 to make this easy wall art! You can get the Wall Art printables here!

Office Decor
This room is supposed to be the formal living room but since the hubby and I both work from home, and we already have an eat-in kitchen, we decided to use the Formal Living Room as our office.
We designed desks for both of us along the longest wall in the room using Ikea drawer units and plywood.

Master Bedroom Summer Decor
I partnered with The Futon Shop to feature our bedroom in this post. Simple Made Pretty was compensated for this mention.
We received a gifted Copper Luxe CottonX Copper Infused Mattress & Topper Set and Organic Mattress Foundation Coconut Coir shown in our master bedroom.
This mattress is meant for a platform bedframe but we used our existing box spring with the Coconut Coir base and the Organic Cotton and Copper mattress.
I added all new bedding on our bed as well and used a variety of pink-orange accent colors.
I painted the wall green in our bedroom and added a Sun Wall mural which you can find the video tutorial for in this post.

Girl’s Bedroom Summer Decor
I redid my daughter’s bedroom at the beginning of Summer since she is entering the tween phase. Her bedroom was purple and we updated it to a moody teal blue with a boho-chic theme.

Boy’s Bedroom Summer Decor
I refreshed my son’s bedroom in 2021 by moving the furniture around, painting a wall, adding a built-in desk, and some custom closet doors.

Outdoor Summer Decor
We did A LOT of updates in our front and backyard in 2021 and I was finally ready to show these spaces off! Our front yard was a mess when we bought our home 3 years ago and it took a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to get it looking this good.
I updated and installed new porch bricks and explained how in this post. I added a curved DIY flower bed, Window Flower Box, and DIY Planter boxes to match!
In our backyard, we had the yard leveled and a walkway to the pool bathroom installed.
Adding some DIY Window Muntins/Grids made a huge difference in how the windows looked from the exterior! Find the full tutorial for DIY window grids here!
I added this long walkway and a secret garden to our side yard. You can find the full tutorial to DIY a paver walkway in this post!
We built privacy fences to separate the side yard from the backyard. The privacy fence also serves the purpose to hide pool equipment and hang a hammock. I hung some birdhouses, painted oars, and did fake ivy for outdoor decor.
We added a Pergola at the base of the pool which made a huge difference in the overall feel of the backyard. We love sitting under the pergola and roasting marshmallows on the gas fire table at night!
