Paper Cut Flowers using Cricut Explore

This past weekend the hubby and I attended a masquerade ball which was the theme for his company awards party.  I decided to make our masquerade masks using card stock and Cricut and I was happy with the way they turned out.  I decided to add some flare to mine and chose to add a poppy flower available on Cricut design space.

This was the first time I made paper flowers so I was surprised how easy they are to make and they turned out beautiful.  The masquerade mask design is available in Cricut design space and I used black and gray card stock with a black satin ribbon for this project.  Here’s a tip:  If you are going to make a mask with card stock, you should try the mask on and carefully bend the paper to fit your face to create a molding before the glue dries.  These flowers were super easy to make (after the Cricut Explore did all the cutting) and had a huge impact.

The flowers are cut with a tab which you use to glue the petals together so you have something like this…

Then you just glue each layer together while curling the paper so it bends like a flower does naturally.

Once the flowers were dry I used a small paint brush and applied some glitter paint to the tips of each petal.  Adding this detail made a huge difference in the look I was going for.

I made two black and pink flowers and decided to pin a black flower to my dress to match my mask.  My dress was a one strap black evening gown and I attached the flower to the strap.  I think I will end-up re-purposing these flowers in my craft room as decor.  I was thinking to add them to a picture frame and hang on the wall since my craft room colors are pink, black and white.
